Position Overview

The Senior Analyst – Environmental plays a key technical role in the performance of projects within the Calian Nuclear Environmental team. This analyst will be able to support technical projects in the core areas of the Environmental Team, including impact assessments, environmental assessments, supporting consultation and engagement activities with external stakeholders, preparing IA/EA documentation for power, infrastructure and mining projects, and supporting other projects related to Environmental Protection for Calian’s nuclear industry clients.

The Senior Analyst able to work with a skilled multi-disciplinary team of environmental specialists and engineers. The Senior Analyst can act as the main technical interface (i.e., subject matter expert) with clients on a variety of projects. They can lead and manage medium to large projects and are expected to provide guidance, and mentorship, to other staff within the Calian Nuclear team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of high-quality technical reports and documents, which may include impact assessment reports, engagement materials, and associated technical analyses
  • Planning for and/or participating in meetings and consultation events
  • Is independent and autonomous, and only requires strategic direction from the management team
  • Provide mentorship, and assist in the development of, technical staff within the Calian Nuclear team
  • Provide support to business development on technical aspects of proposals
  • Participates in client meetings as subject matter expert
  • Technical lead for medium to large projects
  • Assists with the identification of new markets and clients
  • Cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and potential business partners

Qualification

  • At least 7 years of experience in relevant field and recognized as expert in their field
  • Experience/familiarity with Impact Assessment, and environmental planning of power, infrastructure, or mining projects would be an asset
  • Experience/familiarity with consultation and engagement support, including engagement tracking software (e.g., Borealis, Staketracker) would be an asset

  • High attention to detail; follows through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong ability to articulate concepts effectively
  • Demonstrated ability in technical report writing
  • Experience leading teams, mentoring and training technical staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to collaboration, good judgment, analytical skills, and creative problem solving
  • Flexibility and calmness in dealing with managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously with a track record of creativity and innovation in problem solving
