We provide infrastructure for satellite ground systems including antennas, antenna/RF systems, and software defined solutions for controlling and monitoring satellite network resources, equipment and services. Advanced Technologies designs and manufactures Calian and OEM-branded communication products for wired and wireless applications and power management and control products for military vehicle applications. Our success is rooted in our people

  • Patrick joined SED (now Advanced Technologies) in 1985 after completing an honours degree in Computer Science at the University of Saskatchewan. SED became a part of Calian in 1990. Throughout his extensive career within the organization, it was the variety of technical challenges, the commitment to our customers, and the opportunity for worldwide travel that spurred him to grow in his career, through progressive roles in the organization. Patrick became president of Advanced Technologies in 2012.

    Daryl is the Vice-President of Engineering for Advanced Technologies. Daryl has more than 20 years of experience as an electrical engineer and more than 15 years of experience with Calian. His background is in embedded software, programmable logic and electronics design for communications and military products. Daryl is privileged to lead an exceptionally capable team of engineers, technologists and drafts people who enjoy solving highly challenging and complex problems for our customers.

    Dan Baril has more than 30 years of technical and management experience in the satellite industry. As the Senior Vice-President of Space at Calian, Advanced Technologies, he is responsible for the strategic direction of the Calian space market, leading the space ground solutions divisions in achieving their objectives in business development, execution excellence and customer satisfaction. Dan holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan.

  • Darren has over 25 years of experience in various positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, project, and management roles with Calian, Advanced Technologies (formerly Calian SED). He is responsible for identifying new opportunities, building customer relations and ensuring good project execution and meeting critical schedules. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.
