Position Overview
The Principal Architect, Engineering, will be the lead on delivering customer projects that are cross-practice and span multiple technology architectures, mainly associated with data center builds and migrations. The position requires someone who is hands-on and will perform the bulk of work related to technical delivery with the help of delivery engineers dedicated to the project.
Responsibilities
• Works with Solutions Architects to validate solution architecture and acts as the liaison between customers and Calian
• Works with various Practice Managers and Principal Architects within Calian that are subject matter experts to ensure that the complete solution is being delivered to the customer as per the statement of work
• Able to install and configure Azure and AWS designed solutions
• Able to install and configure network, storage, compute and virtualization designed solutions
• Work directly with technical engineers and other practice managers as well as non-technical end users
• Ability to meet or exceed customer goals and objectives for the project within budget
• Ability to explain detailed concepts and technologies to customers in pre-sales engagements
• Work closely with the Account Executives, manufacturer partners and the customer to ensure a smooth transition from design to implementation and support
• Engage outside vendors to troubleshoot issues and tackle problems
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• 7+ years of in-depth experience implementing technology solutions that utilize the skills described above
• Experience working directly with technical engineers and practice managers as well as nontechnical end users
• Experience directing multiple technical staff simultaneously while ensuring that production goals are met
• Well-versed with considerable experience designing and managing cloud computing environments for several years (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of Data Center Design, Disaster Recovery Architectures, Enterprise Storage Systems, Replication Technologies, Storage and Backup, Virtualization, Networking (Classical Ethernet and Software Defined)
• Proven track record of running and entire IT infrastructure delivery operations for a mid-size or enterprise corporation employing 500+ employees
• Able to interact confidently with C-level executives at customer sites
• Experience in whiteboarding concepts and technologies in pre-sales and post-sales scenarios
• Working knowledge of storage area networks utilizing fiber and iSCSI
• Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere and Microsoft HYPER-V virtualization technologies
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
