This is a full-time, on-site role in Ottawa, working Monday to Friday.
Position Overview
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Navigation Systems Designer to join our team in Ottawa. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing and developing resilient positioning systems that provide highly accurate location data, even in challenging GNSS environments.
You’ll focus on integrating navigation sub-systems and implementing advanced positioning augmentation techniques. This role requires a strong software background, a solid understanding of hardware, and experience working with inertial sensors, digital signal processing, and GNSS filtering methods.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine software for high-accuracy GNSS positioning using Embedded C, Python, and MATLAB.
- Integrate and optimize sensor fusion components, including inertial sensors, for precise navigation.
- Implement and apply GNSS filtering techniques like Kalman Filtering to improve system accuracy.
- Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs) to test and validate system performance.
- Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to define component specifications and system interfaces.
- Develop and document test methodologies, ensuring reliability and performance across real-world conditions.
- Identify key technical challenges, proactively solve problems, and contribute fresh expertise to the team.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in geomatics, electrical, or software engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in hardware and system design.
- Strong coding skills in Embedded C, Python, and MATLAB.
- Experience with sensor fusion and integrating inertial components.
- Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Software-Defined Radios.
- Understanding of GNSS positioning techniques and filtering methods.
- Ability to self-manage tasks, take initiative, and apply outside expertise to enhance the team’s capabilities.
- Strong documentation skills for code, test reports, and system designs.
