When our clients who operate in high-risk scenarios are building their teams, they rely on Calian’s network of Psychologists to conduct assessments to ensure their applicants are fit for the job.

The Government of Saskatchewan (GOS), is seeking professional individuals or a team of qualified professionals to provide in-house counselling services and administer psychological testing for its employees. Psychological assessment is a vital step in the hiring of new officers. This includes trauma/crisis counselling and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) debriefings.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological suitability interviews as part of the GOS recruitment process, which may include:
  • Suitability for employment in law enforcement
  • Resiliency and ability to manage stress
  • Problem-solving and de-escalation
  • Provide ongoing counselling services, including but not limited to:
  • Trauma counselling, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) debriefings
  • Crisis counselling, intervention, suicidal, life-threatening behaviour
  • Cognitive counselling, behaviour therapy, identifying red flags, impulsivity, aggression
  • General counselling, generalized support, personal needs
  • Work with law enforcement personnel and agencies
  • Provide trauma and post-traumatic stress counselling to employees and other staff, resulting from job or personal crisis
  • Understand the operational and unique job challenges faced by law enforcement officers

Qualifications

  • Must have a Doctorate in Psychology (PhD)
  • Must be licensed and in good standing in the province of practice
  • Expertise and ability to provide trauma and post-traumatic stress counselling
  • Strong understanding of the operational and unique job challenges faced by law enforcement officers

Additional Requirements

  • Casual contract – Flexible schedule! Based on the needs of the client and the availability of the Psychologist
  • Deliver requested services in-person. Virtual delivery will only be considered as mutually agreed upon on a case-by-case basis
