Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.<\/p>\n<p><!--CareersInnerInfo--><\/p>\n<h3>Position Overview<\/h3>\n<p>Calian is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Assistant for the laboratory clinic located at CFB Esquimalt.<\/p>\n<p>Clinic hours are Monday to Friday starting 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.<\/p>\n<h3>Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<p>The required tasks for this occupational group include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform venipuncture on adult patients.<\/li>\n<li>Collect and process specimens while maintaining sample integrity and providing patient instructions.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct basic lab tests (e.g., urinalysis, pregnancy tests).<\/li>\n<li>Enter patient and specimen data into lab systems and logs.<\/li>\n<li>Investigate and correct requisition errors; label, centrifuge, and separate samples.<\/li>\n<li>Handle body fluid measurements and 24-hour urine collections for external testing.<\/li>\n<li>Package and label specimens per TDG regulations; prepare waybills and maintain compliance records.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Qualifications<\/h3>\n<p>All Medical Laboratory Assistant must, as a minimum, possess:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diploma from a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Program<\/li>\n<li>Certificate of registration as a Medical Laboratory Assistant from the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) or equivalent provincial or territorial organization in the province or territory of practice<\/li>\n<li>Two years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting and performing phlebotomy<\/li>\n<li>Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider or equivalent such as Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation\/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR\/AED) Level C.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Additional Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Compensation<\/p>\n<p>$34 to $38\/hr<\/p>\n<p>Vacancy<\/p>\n<p>We have 1 available position.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-50900","career","type-career","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Medical Laboratory Assistant - Calian Careers<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/careers.calian.com\/fr-ca\/careers\/df-medical-laboratory-assistant-57566-2\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"fr_CA\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Medical Laboratory Assistant - Calian Careers\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"Calian is proud to continue a long-standing contractual relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces.
