Position Overview
The Technical Project Manager position in our Space division is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Canadian-based tech organization with 100+ software developers. You will manage a team of software developers and systems engineers that provide innovative solutions to the world’s leading satellite operators. You will work with highly technical customers in the satellite ground systems domain. To be successful, you must thrive in a dynamic environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or multiple priorities. You will need to anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.

Responsibilities
• Create detailed project plans, work structure breakdowns, and resource allocation plans while adhering to current innovation and quality standards. This includes outlining the scope through detailed budgets, schedules, and milestones
• Act as the main point of contact for clients by interacting effectively regarding timelines, budgets, objectives, and expectations while professionally maintaining client relationships
• Work with the key technical staff to manage project scope. You will need a high-level understanding of the subject domain
• Manage and lead a team of talented software developers and system engineers
• Identify and resolve any barriers or obstacles that impact the project’s success. Help the team work through technical challenges
• Foster psychological safety
• Assist in recruiting, training, and staff performance management
• Track and report on budgets and schedules
Qualifications
• 5+ years of coding experience in Java, C++, or equivalent language
• 5+ years of experience leading software development projects that are delivered on a budget, with tight schedules
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics degree or software related technology diploma would be an asset
• Experience engaging with customers, managing customer expectations, and demonstrated pragmatic decision-making
• Experience in Agile project management is an asset
• Experience with telecommunications or related industries is an asset
