Position Overview
Calian is looking for Senior CBRN Instructors to join our team at CFB Borden, ON. In this full-time role, you’ll provide expert instruction on CBRN operations, including equipment use, handling agents, and decontamination procedures. You’ll enhance the curriculum with your experience, lead both in-person and online training, and mentor students to ensure they’re fully prepared for CBRN tasks. If you’re a bilingual instructor (French/English), we want you to help deliver exceptional training to our diverse student body.
Responsibilities
- Providing expert instruction in the knowledge and/or skills required to perform duties effectively as a CF member in CBRN Decontamination Operations.
- Enhancing and adding value to the assigned course curriculum with personal expertise and professional experience in the CBRN field.
- Using MS Office Suite, MS Teams, and other DND IT systems for course communication, activities, and evaluations.
- Preparing and developing lesson plans for both in-person and online environments, ensuring they meet the standards for lesson preparation and delivery.
- Assisting in the design, delivery, and evaluation of training activities and assessments related to CBRN Decontamination Operations.
- Coordinating with assigned Course Director (CD) and Directing Staff (DS) to ensure proper alignment of instruction and learning objectives.
- Producing and marking student assignments and assessments in accordance with rubrics and course training plans, including ensuring they meet the required standards.
- Providing feedback to students after each week’s activities, highlighting key lessons and addressing any issues encountered during decontamination training.
- Conducting and participating in synchronous student engagement sessions, including office hours and orientation, ensuring students understand key CBRN principles.
- Providing safety support by administering immediate first aid to students and unit personnel if needed during training activities.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience instructing in the content area related to CBRN.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ hands-on experience working in CBRN operations (not as an instructor).
- Must hold a valid Standard First Aid certification as of the date of draft TAF issuance.
- Must hold a valid provincial license for the vehicle to be operated in order to qualify for a DND 404 driver’s license.
Additional Requirements
- Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some of the area and overnight travel may be expected
- You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level
