Position Overview

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to support the continued growth of our defence programs, software products, and research and development initiatives.

This role is responsible for leading software engineering teams and overseeing project delivery in support of military and defence customers. You will balance project leadership and people management while ensuring engineering teams are aligned with business priorities, customer requirements, and delivery objectives.

Candidates with military or defence experience would be prioritized.

We are open to talent across Canada. While Ottawa is preferred, remote candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities

Lead software engineering teams responsible for the delivery of defence-focused software programs and products.

Manage project plans, schedules, resource allocation, risks, and delivery commitments.

Partner with customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.

Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and career development for engineering staff.

Support hiring, workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.

Drive process improvements and help establish scalable delivery and operating practices.

Ensure alignment between business objectives, customer requirements, and engineering execution.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

10+ years of experience in the software development industry.

5+ years of management experience leading software engineering teams.

Experience leading software delivery, project execution, and cross-functional teams.

Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

Ability to operate independently and take ownership of complex programs and teams.

Additional Requirements

Eligible to obtain Canadian Secret Security Clearance.

Defence or military experience is considered a strong asset.

Experience with Military Modelling and Simulation, Training and Operations (C5ISRT) is considered an asset.

Experience working with defence systems, interoperability, communications systems, or military customers is considered an asset.

Travel may be required based on customer and business needs.

Compensation

$125,000 to $150,000 + 5% Short-Term Incentive
