Position Overview
The Corporate Communications Specialist supports the development and delivery of internal, external and digital communications across the organization. The role helps build Calian’s public profile through media and storytelling, while ensuring employees remain informed, connected and aligned through effective internal communications. Working collaboratively with Corporate Services and business units, the specialist helps protect and strengthen Calian’s brand and build broader awareness of the business by producing accurate, timely and compelling content.
Responsibilities
Internal Communications
- Write internal updates including intranet articles, leadership messages, employee announcements and communications to support change initiatives.
- Maintain and update intranet content, ensuring accuracy, relevance and ease of navigation.
- Support employee engagement initiatives such as Town Halls, internal campaigns, recognition programs and events.
- Assist with drafting internal Q&As, talking points and communications materials to support operational priorities.
External Communications
- Draft and edit external communications including news releases, media statements, corporate updates and website/text content.
- Support media engagement activities by preparing background material, reviewing media requests, developing key messages and assisting with briefing packages.
- Monitor media coverage and help prepare summary reports or risk flags as required.
- Assist with coordinating announcements and external communications with internal stakeholders and partners.
Social Media & Digital Communications
- Support day-to-day management of corporate social media channels, including drafting posts, scheduling content, monitoring engagement and preparing creative assets.
- Work closely with leadership to implement the social media strategy and support planned campaigns.
- Monitor social trends, conversations and competitor activity to identify opportunities for engagement.
- Assist with metrics tracking, analytics and monthly reporting.
General Communications Support
- Ensure brand consistency across all communications materials.
- Assist with coordinating approvals, managing content calendars and maintaining communications folders and documentation.
- Collaborate with Communications, Marketing, HR and corporate services and business teams to align messaging and support broader corporate initiatives.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, digital communications or related field.
- University degree or college diploma in a related field
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to tailor content for different audiences.
- Experience drafting news releases, social media content and internal communications materials.
- Understanding of social media platforms, scheduling tools and digital engagement best practices.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
Nice to have:
- Experience with CMS platforms (intranet), basic graphic design or Canva, media monitoring tools, or analytics/reporting.
- Bilingualism (French/English)
Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability-level security clearance is required.
Compensation
$62,000 – $85,000
