Title: Senior Learning Designer
Position Overview
Calian is hiring a Senior Learning Designer, to support our customer based in Gatineau, QC. This is a full-time role, which will be conducted in a hybrid format, with days working in office, in Gatineau.
Responsibilities
- Conducting needs assessments to review performance issues including:
- Conducting performance and case analyzes
- Finding solutions and making recommendations
- Helping clarify the expected outcomes of education and training to ensure optimal performance at work including:
- Analyzing the tasks of a position
- Specifying performance, education and learning objectives; and
- Producing qualification standards (NORQUAL) and knowledge standards
- Describing and selecting a training program including:
- Defining the characteristics of the learner
- Establishing integrated instruction and learning strategies
- Specifying instructional strategies
- Specifying the learning content and establish course guidelines; and
- Producing course guidelines (design guidance documents, scenarios, participant and instructor manual, drawings, etc.)
- Producing effective instructional materials in accordance with development guidelines including:
- Identifying training/performance requirements and sources of learning materials
- Making recommendations on the purchase of teaching aids
- Developing guides
- Producing teaching materials
- Submitting training materials to beta tests and formative or pilot evaluations to ensure compliance with prescribed standards and client requirements and revising as necessary
- Preparing instructors to use or implement instructional materials in instructional programs; and
- Evaluating instructional materials to determine whether they can be converted in whole or in part for eLearning
Qualifications
- Either A – B or C:
- A: Minimum of a graduate degree in one (1) of the following fields: education, adult learning, distance learning or e-learning, Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in course design and at least two (2) years’ experience in designing e-learning products
- B: Minimum of an undergraduate degree in one (1) of the following fields: education, adult learning, distance learning or e-learning, minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in course design and at least two (2) years’ experience in designing e-learning products
- C: Minimum of a College Diploma (any field) or a University degree (any field), minimum of nine (9) years’ experience in course design, at least two (2) years’ experience in designing e-learning products
In addition to the (A-B- or C) requirement, we are looking for someone that has the following:
- Minimum of four (4) years of cumulative experience, within the last five (5) years, in developing performance-based learning solutions derived from an action-mapping task analysis methodology
- Minimum of one (1) year of cumulative experience, within the last three (3) years, of demonstrated experience in prototyping and testing learning products
- Demonstrated experience in producing any of the following types of training products within the last five (5) years: Storyboards, Final online products, Training videos, Lesson plans, Training plans, PowerPoint training slides, Student manuals or guides, Instructor manuals or guides, Job Aids
Other requirements
- Be available to work in a hybrid capacity, including remote work and on-site work in Gatineau
- Be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance
