The Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) is Canada’s national military university based in Kingston, Ontario. RMC has within its mandate the provision to carry out research and other forms of support for the Department of National Defence (DND) and other government departments.

Position Overview

This project focuses on enhancing the Map-Aware Non-uniform Automata (MANA) model, originally developed by the New Zealand Defence Technology Agency (DTA) and written in Delphi.

We are seeking a Research Technician at the Royal Military College to support this initiative. The role involves improving the existing MANA model, with comprehensive user documentation and source code provided to assist in this process. The work will be conducted remotely, and this opportunity is full-time contractual up until March 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document the code architecture
  • Update and refine models related to: Probability of detection, tracking, hitting, and neutralizing targets, Geospatial characteristics, Weapon candidates and their associated parameters
  • Develop and deploy: Autonomous defense systems, Cyber attack capabilities, Grey-zone warfare tactics, Missile systems
  • Eliminate outdated or unnecessary modules and controls.
  • Optimize code for faster execution and improved efficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or higher
  • Excellent coding skills (essential)
  • Experience coding in Delphi or Pascal (preferred)
  • Experience in technical writing (essential)
  • Experience in combat modelling (preferred)
