Position Overview
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a short-term clinical support role providing health services to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members in support of training operations.
This position is focused on delivering sick parade services during a Mass Training Event (MTE) at Connaught Ranges, supporting 180+ Combat Medic Students (CMD) (not concurrent) between 01 May and 31 August 2026. The role supports CAF training by ensuring timely assessment, treatment, and return-to-training recommendations for members experiencing illness or minor injury.
This is an excellent opportunity for an NP with experience in urgent care, occupational health, or autonomous practice who is interested in a defined, operationally focused contract within a military training environment.
Hours of work will vary for this short term task. The incumbent may be required for a few hours in the morning (0730 – 9 or 10) from Monday to Friday. There will be some on call/call back duties in the evenings and weekends. The hope is to fill this for early May 2026 and the contract will go until the end of August.
Responsibilities
- Provide sick parade services during the Mass Training Event (MTE) period
- Assess, triage, and treat acute illnesses and minor injuries in a training environment
- Perform functional health assessments and provide return-to-training recommendations
- Collaborate with training staff, medical support personnel, and CAF leadership
- Support the safety, well-being, and training continuity of CMD students
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with CAF requirements
Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum of one (1) year of Nurse Practitioner experience post graduation
- Strong autonomous assessment and clinical decision making skills
- Comfort managing high volume or walk in style assessments
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers or CPR/AED Level C
- Experience in urgent care, emergency care, occupational health, or military/public safety environments an asset
- Experience providing sick parade, walk in, or training support medical services an asset
- Ability to adapt to structured or operational clinical settings
Additional Requirement
- Ability to obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance
Compensation
$79 – $87 per hour
