Title: Physiotherapist

Calian Patient Support Program is currently recruiting Physiotherapists on a contractual basis to support our patients in hospital settings throughout Ottawa! This is a great, casual/part-time opportunity to supplement your existing income and gain experience in a hospital setting. The ideal candidate will be already located in Ottawa, ON.

The physiotherapist will assess the patient’s physical and functional abilities. They will identify the causes of any deficits and create personalized treatment plans to help patients improve their independence and function. The physiotherapist will focus on helping patients regain mobility and transfer skills.

Shifts may be available at the following locations (but not limited to):

  • Bruyère Continuing Care (BCC)
  • Kemptville District Hospital (KDH)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess the components that contribute to deficits in the patient’s performance and develop and execute individualized treatment plans aimed at enabling patients to achieve their own goals.
  • Deliver physiotherapy and rehabilitation interventions using evidence-based approaches and best practices in accordance with applicable regulatory standards and scope of practice.
  • Obtain and document informed patient consent for assessment and treatment through an accurate explanation and instruction.
  • Provide screening assessments, education, and orthoses recommendations in a direct access setting.
  • Prescribe exercises to optimally rehabilitate and prevent injuries and promote fitness.
  • Provide ergonomics education including the provision of on-site assessments in the patient’s workplace
  • Provide physiotherapy-related education to patients and members of the health care team on topics such as injury prevention and health promotion issues

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an educational program approved by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Current license in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospital settings.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

Additional Requirements

Must have or be willing to obtain:

  • An updated Police Check of the Vulnerable Section
  • An updated CPR and First Aid – Level C certificate
  • An updated TB Test/Chest Xray
  • 2 doses of Covid vaccination

Be willing to work from Monday – Friday between 8 am to 4 pm or 7.30 am to 5 pm.
