Position Overview
We are looking for a Tier 2 Cybersecurity Analyst to join Calian’s Cybersecurity team and support enterprise information security operations across organizational and technical domains. Reporting to the Cybersecurity Manager, this role will help maintain and enhance Calian’s corporate cybersecurity program while actively participating in security incident response, cyber investigations, threat hunting, anomaly detection, and preventative security measures.
The Tier 2 Cybersecurity Analyst will support Calian’s complex global environment, including on-premises infrastructure, hybrid cloud, and multi-cloud deployments. This position requires close collaboration with Cyber team members and partners across Information Systems and Development teams to help protect and support users across all Calian business units.
This position is open to candidates across Canada. Candidates based in the Ottawa region who are able to work in a hybrid capacity, with three days per week in our Kanata office, are preferred.
Responsibilities
Investigate escalated incidents from Tier 1 analysts and the Security Operations Center, conduct root cause analysis, and determine appropriate containment and remediation actions.
Analyze threat intelligence and assess risks across logs, network traffic, and other data sources.
Identify, investigate, and respond to security threats, anomalies, and suspicious activity across enterprise environments.
Automate routine security processes to improve operational efficiency, including vulnerability scanning, threat detection workflows, and incident response activities.
Leverage AI and machine learning technologies to support threat detection and predictive security capabilities.
Deploy, manage, and maintain security controls, including endpoint protection, encryption technologies, and other cybersecurity solutions.
Produce detailed incident reports, document investigative activities, and provide recommendations for remediation and continuous improvement.
Support vulnerability management initiatives, security assessments, and risk reduction efforts.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with emerging threats, technologies, and cybersecurity best practices.
Assist with annual reviews of security policies, procedures, and standards.
Collaborate with Cyber, Information Systems, and Development teams on operational security initiatives and projects.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the cybersecurity operations program.
Qualifications
A post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Two to five years of experience in cybersecurity, security operations, incident response, or related information security roles.
Demonstrated cybersecurity expertise through industry certifications, vendor certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience responding to and investigating information security incidents.
Strong hands-on cybersecurity and information security experience.
Experience working in medium to large enterprise environments.
Experience with Endpoint Detection and Response and Extended Detection and Response platforms, including CrowdStrike.
Proficiency working with SIEM and EDR monitoring solutions.
Experience with vulnerability management systems and security operations processes.
Experience with cloud security environments including Azure, AWS, or GCP is considered an asset.
Knowledge of operating systems, network architecture, protocols, enterprise services, and security infrastructure.
Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK Framework and OWASP.
Knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, SOC, or NIST.
Ability to conduct security testing, vulnerability scanning, and interpret results.
Experience with security testing tools such as Burp Suite or Metasploit is considered an asset.
Experience with machine learning technologies and/or API development is considered an asset.
Strong understanding of security controls, risk assessment methodologies, and threat management techniques.
Solid understanding of ITIL principles and service management practices.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and investigative abilities.
Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate technical concepts effectively.
Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
Additional Requirements
Must be eligible to meet applicable security clearance requirements.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment with three days per week in the Kanata office.
Ability to balance operational security responsibilities with ongoing project and improvement initiatives.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize competing security risks.
Compensation
$85,000 to $100,000 CAD
