Summary:

Calian is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) to support the First Responders Health Program, delivering comprehensive occupational health assessments for firefighters and first responders. Working within a multidisciplinary clinical team, the RN performs health screenings, clinical assessments, participant intake, spirometry, hearing and vision testing, care coordination, documentation, and participant education while supporting preventative healthcare initiatives focused on occupational health, cardiovascular disease, and cancer surveillance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct participant intake and verify medical history, consent documentation, and health questionnaires.
  • Perform comprehensive health screenings including:
  • Support occupational health assessments and identify findings requiring clinician review.
  • Coordinate participant flow throughout clinic operations.
  • Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Physicians, and Laboratory Technicians.
  • Assist with referral coordination and continuity of care.
  • Document clinical findings within the electronic medical record platform.
  • Educate participants on occupational health risks, cardiovascular health, cancer screening, smoking cessation, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring PHIPA compliance and clinical quality standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Minimum three years of nursing experience
  • Strong clinical assessment skills
  • Experience using electronic medical records
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Occupational health experience
  • Community or emergency nursing experience
  • Preventive medicine experience
  • Spirometry certification or experience
  • Hearing and vision screening experience
  • Experience supporting firefighters, first responders, military, or public safety personnel

Compensation:

$45.00 – $60.00 per hour
