Position Overview
The Manufacturing Technologist student is a technical and/or administrative member of a Calian AT project team. The specific tasks assigned are dependent on the project and on the skill level of the student.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment and fixtures
- Document problems found in test and assembly
- Assist engineering and senior personnel in the assembly and test of prototypes, engineering development models, and test fixtures
- Review engineering designs and documentation for manufacturability
- Be familiar with Advanced Technologies processes and equipment
- Work in a team environment to meet quality and schedule commitments
- Support assembly personnel
- Prioritize tasks to completion despite interruptions
SMT/CCA focus:
- Program and operate and maintain specialized PCBA production equipment
Production Test & Integration focus:
- Conduct tests following prescribed test procedures on Advanced Technologies projects
- Troubleshoot to the component level, any problems that arise during test
- Ensure the defective components are repaired correctly and repairs are carried out efficiently and in observance of Advanced Technologies’ standards and project requirements
- Repair customer equipment both at Advanced Technologies and on site
- Support off-site installations and integrations for extended periods of time as required by the projects
Mfg Eng focus:
- Document and implement new processes within manufacturing
- Specify and/or fabricate tools, fixtures, jigs, consumables, etc
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles in production cells
Qualifications
Education:
Successful completion of first year of Technologist diploma or equivalent
Experience:
No previous experience required. Has conceptual knowledge of role; requires strong level of supervision.
