Position Overview
The Satellite Teleport NOC Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting ground-based satellite communication systems within the Teleport’s Network Operations Center (NOC). This role requires an understanding of teleport infrastructure, RF systems, and network elements critical to satellite ground communication. The technician will monitor systems, troubleshoot RF and network issues, and maintain seamless operation of satellite links, including antennas, RF equipment, and network devices. The technician will work in a shift-based environment to ensure 24/7 uptime and support facility maintenance tasks as required.
Responsibilities
- Teleport and RF Monitoring:
- Actively monitor teleport components, including antennas, transmitters, and RF chains, responding to alerts or anomalies.
- Utilize specialized monitoring systems to track satellite link performance and ensure optimal signal strength, quality, and availability.
- Network Monitoring and Support:
- Oversee network infrastructure within the teleport, including routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring operational stability.
- Respond promptly to network or RF incidents within the NOC, diagnosing issues to restore operations efficiently.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Troubleshoot teleport RF systems, including issues related to receivers, modulators, demodulators, and other critical components.
- Apply corrective actions to resolve common network and RF issues, escalating complex problems to senior engineers when necessary.
- Ticket Management and Documentation:
- Create, manage, and prioritize support tickets for network and RF incidents, ensuring timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, system configurations, and resolutions for future reference and continuous improvement.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering, IT, and network teams to support teleport operations and improvements.
- Participate in cross-departmental initiatives to enhance performance and ensure seamless operation of teleport equipment.
- Shift Operations and Facility Maintenance:
- Operate and monitor systems during assigned shifts, maintaining continuous oversight of teleport network and RF components.
- Assist with periodic maintenance of teleport grounds and facilities, including tasks like landscaping, clearing antenna paths and ensuring organized equipment areas.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and operational guidelines for working with teleport and high-power RF equipment.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and procedures, particularly for RF safety and network security.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned

Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of satellite teleport operations, RF principles, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with network and satellite monitoring tools.
